Laurence Kilsby (2009 Chorister of the year) will be singing at the Royal Albert Hall on 23rd December 2012.
His remarkable treble voice will probably not last much longer and anyone who has the opportunity to attend (sadly I do not) will not be disappointed.

This one won't embed - but the link should work.

Hmmh, assume that is with Aled. I could have been tempted if I'd had a bit more time to advance plan.

Thanks for the clips. If I'm honest he tends to go a bit too operatic and 'Soprano vibrato' on many of his solos for my taste; that Panis is dreadful!. Give me Daniel's version anyday :D

"Dreadful" is a bit harsh. I was there - and judging by the audience response, 5,000 people did not agree with you. What you really mean is that you don't like opera and you don't like even a hint of vibrato. Fair enough, but that does not make it "dreadful", just not to your taste. .

I stand corrected - it was dreadful to my ears  It's not that I don't like any vibrato, in moderation and with a delicate touch it is beautiful.Big Ben knew how to add just the right amount. But when we get to the full on fat woman in a horned helmet............

Anyways, while your there (if you're still speaking to me) what were the names of the Tewkesbury Abbey Schola Cantorum CD's you recommended to me in Belfast (and yes, I know my laddo is Primo Treble of said establishment).

I've got the Mozart one - but I think you could probably guess what I think to that

Can't go wrong with Rutter though so I'll order that next week on pay day.

I've only listened to Tewkesbury on Youtube, but I can tell they are really good. Their sound is very full and not strained. Sometime I will have to hear them live!

Filming today and tomorrow for new BBC TV series, presented by David Starkey, 'Music and Monarchy'.
I'm curious what this series will be, best keep an eye out for it :)

Missed Songs of Praise last Sunday but luckily it's on Youtube, and I really enjoyed this lovely gentle piece by Paul Mealor. I immediately wondered how it would sound if Libera sang it and who could be the soloist (maybe Thomas DL?). This soloist here has a really great voice. (ETA: sorry, embedding disabled, you'll need to watch it on youtube)

At 4pm today on BBC Radio 3 is a Choral Evensong service from St John's, Cambridge. It's an Advent service with carols and should be available for a week on iPlayer (BBC Radio is available to non-UK residents unlike TV). I expect it will be well worth catching.

Thanks for the heads up! :) I'll hope to find the time to listen to it in the coming days.
Amazing, this kind of service, with so many readings and so much serious singing. Unthinkable in the Netherlands...
