The Music in general

Post by tcliffy »

Well, I thought I would put this here just in case anyone wanted to discuss the music in general terms without having to worry about choosing favorites and stuff.

Oh, and for those of us who don't have ALL of the cd's... follow this link. You need Windows media player but it is definately well worth it 8)

Also, If anyone is interested, I thought perhaps I should post some of the translations to any of the songs you might need (those in Latin  )

Good idea!
I don't really have favorites. I just put some questions like that out to see what everyone else thought.
It's so hard to choose!
I mean, One moment I'm positive my favorite CD is Luminosa... then I remember how much I love Free... and Visions... and every other CD they've ever made!
Each CD and each soloist is so unique that it's really hard to pick favorites, and it hardly even seems fair too!

haha, that's why I made this topic. We can discuss how much we like any particular song, boy, cd, or hopefully when they have more- dvd; and we can do it without fear of someone thinking that it or he is our favorite (making sense?).

For example: I LOVE the song Lacrymosa when Ben sings it. I would love to discuss the song and stuff, but this dousn't make it my favorite or does it make Ben my favorite singer.

Thanks tcliffy for adding the link; it is great, I am new to Libera and it is fabulous to hear all of these songs as I have not heard most of them before. It is espicially nice to hear Amazing Grace as it is my all time favourite hymn. I would love them to do a recording of it again (is it on one of there earlier CD's??). With regards to favoutites; I am sorry to say that I have favourites  my top 6 (in order) are:

The Prayer (Tom & Ed live in concert)
In Paradisum (Ed on New Dawn)
Going Home (Josh live in concert)
Jerusalem (Ben on New Dawn)
Rest in Peace (on New Dawn)
Abide with Me (Ed live in concert)

but that is likely to change next week :) !! as Sancte is making a late run on the rails...

well, if you have favorites that's great. I simply can't choose as I like and love every single thing I've heard them sing.

As for the songs on the link. Yes, I believe you can find them all on some of the previous cd's. Check out the Libera-Dreams store and look at the old cd recordings. For each cd you should be able to see a list of all the songs included on whichever cd you're looking at before you purchase it if you want to purchase it.

You can find translations of many of their songs in the "Files" section of the Yahoo Angel Voices website.

Oooo, thanks for that. I have been having difficulty with finding the translations for certain words. Still, it might be nice to have them here. Now that my finals are over, I might have a little more time on my hands.

Song lyrics along with their translations will be made available on Libera Dreams in the near future. As you already know, the website is not 100% complete as of yet. I have been way too busy with school lately so it has slowed down the process of building the database greatly. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hey Kevin, just to kind of throw this out there. If you ever need additional help with the website, just let me know, ok.

I'll be happy to do what I can.

Who's the opening soloist on the Leiden version of Stay With Me? I bought the "CD" through iTunes, and it doesn't have specific artist information beyond just "Libera." He starts a little uncertainly, but you can hear the confidence being built up as the music moves forward. Just wondered who this was.

If I'm not wrong, it's Ed who sang the verses while Liam's the one with the really high notes.

This would be correct. And boy, can Liam hit those high notes too. Just listen to him hit them in Libera as well.
The more I hear him, the more I am growing sure he is the one who hits that last, amazingly long and loud high note at the end of I Am The Day. Liam just might be the one to take over for Tom on all the super high notes when Tom's voice starts to change.
