Your top three favorites?

If you had to pick your top three favorite singers from Libera (past or present) ... who would they be & why? It's a tough choice, but I think my top 3 are:

Josh Madine - great voice and much fun to watch sing!
Tom Cully - same as above
Anthony Chadney - sings my all time favorite solo in my favorite song - voca me!

That being said... all of the kids are GREAT!!!

Anyone else hve any stand-outs?

Very difficult, as all the boys are great, but if I had to make a top 3...

1 - Steven Geraghty, since the first time I heard him sing I loved him.
2 - Tom Cully, number 2 was a toss-up between Tom and Liam, but Tom's ending with Sanctus at When will I be famous made me choose Tom.
3 - Liam O'Kane, one of the best and I couldn't imagine a Libera without him but alas, we have no control over it.

I dont like choosing favorites or anything but here are my top 3:

1. Tom Cully: fantastic voice and a very active and outgoing person
2. Josh Madine: great personality and perfect smile, everytime I see this kid, I cant help but smile, keep smiling Josh
3. Michael Horncastle: was a fantastic treble, Far Away is my favorite piece by him

Really a tough choice but its what I can come up with.

I've made it a point not to answer these questions due mainly to the fact that I've never heard all of them sing solos, so it would be wrong to answer because I don't know what they all sound like individually.

Hm, a good point. I just noticed, all my favourites I named sang the solo of Salva Me at one point.

Much of this will be mainly focused on the period you started to become interested in Libera's music.

I don't go as far back as the likes of Liam O'Kane or Steven Geraghty, and indeed I just about caught the tail end of Ben Crawley being an active soloist with the group.

Many would say that Ben Crawley is one of Libera's all time great soloists, as far as the pronunciation and purity of the singing voice alone.

In recent times, you need to have an all round package. Some of these boys are coping with an increasing and demanding workload and they are carrying themselves as much off the stage as on it, with the need to popularise Libera's music to a much wider field of music fans. Therefore as far as all round, charisma, personality accompanied with the purity and skill of singing it's got to be for me;

Current Modern Period;
Tom Cully – Funny, witty, charming, superb top note specialist and beautiful and instantly identifiable singing voice. Also makes Libera popular to the younger fans
Michael Horncastle – Proves you don’t have to scale the top notes to be a superb and much remembered Libera soloists. Michael’s rich and emotive vocals during solo’s such as Far Away and We Are The Lost will immortalise him for years to come as one of Libera’s finest soloists. A golden couple of years ensued, when Michael and Tom were included as main soloists together for many of their songs.
Josh Madine – You would find it very hard not to like Joshua, with that enchanting smile and demeanour he has. A very refreshing individual. He also demonstrated a lovely voice with his solo’s of Going Home and I Am The Day for their Concert DVD. Again very popular with young and old alike.

Going back a bit;
Ben Crawley – Excellent vocal soloist, with superb pronunciation and perfect pitch. Many would consider him one of Libera’s all time great soloist performers.
Steven Geraghty – Masterful soloist, with superbly clarity, fine top note accomplisher, especially during his early years.
Liam O'Kane - Iconic solist, still remembered fondly after all these years. Probably the first member to popularise Libera’s music, and begin the wave of making Libera’s music more appealing to a wider spectrum of listeners.

…so many to mention Jamie Bandtock, Oliver Putland, Anthony Chadney, Chris Robson, Joe Platt and many, many more – but the above are the members who immediately came to mind.

It's diffucult to say who is my favorite but i must go with the same taste as Liberation.

Tom and Michael have great voices

i am loath to highlight any particular,
boy
However i having listen once more to various
disc's

Josh for I AM THE DAY A good ambassador,always smiling
Tom for SALVA MEa good ambasador,wicked sense of humor
Michael Horncastle for FAR AWAY he was a fantstic treble

this choices has been very difficult
because each and every one of the BOYS
are so very talented an those who have missed out
will fell not feel slighted
as each of you are so wonderfully talented

I like how Tom put it in the interview on the dvd... "no one judges you on how many solos you do"- or something like that. I'm sorry that I can't give my opinion but it just wouldn't be fair or proper and having been brought up by a former Rhodesian soldier, we look at what is right and what is just (we never could abide segregation in Rhodesia or South Africa

). I will not judge any of the boys and so I cannot pick any favorites

I agree with you tcliffy. And I agree with what Tom said on the DVD about not judging the choristers by how many solos they got to do. As long as they sing with their angelic voices is good enough for me

Oh yes, I agree with that too
That's one of the reasons why it was so difficult to choose, but I'd try cause I would answer the question and came up with more names.
Remember too what Tom said, it was well said!

Thinking about it now, I really appreciate what Tom said about that. It really does not matter how many solos that chorister has done, as long as he enjoys what he does thats all that matters. I salute you young Thomas Cully for your reasoning.

haha, yeah, wisdom beyond his years. It's amazing what some kids say, they are often so much wiser than many adults I know. I am a black belt and train/teach many young people. One of my students (who is also a black belt) is only 13 and he is the wisest, mature for his age, young person I have ever had the privalige to meet.
