Somebody else on another forum said there was no camera's at the concert so if its played on RTE it will be an audio recording not on tv. So hopefully somebody in Irland would record it and then make it available on the internet.

Also i just rememed didnt Libera do mass today ? did anybody check to see if webcam was working and did anybody go?

I took this off yahoo group. Person posted it is called Jens . " seem to be first in depth review"
I'm a bit surprised that no actual comments of the concert are here
yet, so I will write a bit about it - from my hotel room in Dublin,
actually ;)

First of all, I'd like to introduce myself. I have been quietly
lurking in the background of the mailinglist for 1 1/2 years now, but
never had a real reason to contribute to it. I'm from Germany, 30
years old, and have been an avid Libera follower for nearly 3 years
now.

Dublin has been my first concert of Libera up to now, the other
concert dates were mostly a bit unlucky for me, or simply too far
away. So I really, REALLY looked forward to this concert - I had sworn
to myself that if they would be having a concert in Europe this year,
I would be attending it.

So, and now to the concert:

The venue they had was very nice, a classic concert hall in the middle
of Dublin. They put up the usual colored spotlights for the concert,
the ones you see in the videos. The stage was a bit small, as the
orchestra was seated on it as well, so there was very little space for
all the boys, and it looked a bit cramped from time to time up there.
I had a great seat, 5th row, nearly in the middle, and had a very good
view of the stage and the boys, which appeared really close (to me).

Before the boys started singing, the orchestra performed an
introduction, directed by Robert Prizeman. The acoustics from the
orchestra was a bit low, IMO, at least for a nearly full symphonic
orchestra. I think the reason for that was that they put some sort of
curtain around the inner wall of the stage, probably so the orchestra
wouldn't drown out the boys.

During the time the orchestra was playing, you could get a glimpse of
some of the boys on a door leading off the stage, but they were guided
back quickly from the doors by one of the chaperones ;)

Robert Prizeman switched then to his choir directing desk, and the
boys appeared on stage.

The first song they played was the customary "Adoramus", which sounded
a bit too artificial for my taste, but maybe it was just because just
the orchestra had been playing before, and now they had synthesizer
sounds in there as well. But you could hear very well that the boys
were amplified, and maybe they didn't get the sound mixing right in
the beginning - I don't know. I just know that I have heard better
versions of Adoramus.

Without a break, they proceeded to Gloria in excelsis, with just some
adjustments of the boys on the stage. The song didn't leave any
lasting impressions on me, so no real comment there :)

After that, Josh and one of the younger boys (don't know the name,
sorry) introduced themselves and Libera to the audience, and told some
about where they were coming from, and the fact aboung Big and
Mini-Ben - which got the crowd laughing.

The next song was "Far away" with a solo by Mini-Ben. The song was
performed really well, at least on par with the music video version
with Michael Horncastle, and the DVD version with Tom Cully (where I'm
still debating which I like better). Ben's voice is just a bit softer
(not less loud, maybe just the pronuncation), but it suited the song
very well, and it was really enjoyable.

For "Stay With Me" two new boys joined on the stage, one hooded all
the time, who sang the high solo (Liam's part on the DVD). He didn't
take off the hood until he left the stage again after the song, so I'm
not really sure who it was. The main solo was sung by one of the
younger boys - I'm not totally sure who it was, but after looking at
the member pictures on liberafans, I think that it probably will have
been Sammy Moriarty. But I'm really not sure, maybe one of the other
visitors there will know better. He looked really unsure when he was
singled out like that, and I had the impression that he was really
nervous, and even a bit shaking. So it was no surprise that he missed
a few notes here and there. It wasn't really bad, but again, I have
heard better versions of it. But with a bit more confidence in his
singing, and probably a bit more routine, he will definitely be a good
soloist for Libera!

One other of the newer boys (again, no name) told the audience then
something, but I can't exactly remember what - I was to enthralled by
the music to take notes.

"Sancte" was the next song in line, which was absolutely breathtaking,
and gave me goosebumps all over. That is really one song they have
perfected since New Dawn, where it is nice, but this was better.

Then was a short break for the boys, in which the orchestra played
Valse Triste and Valse Romantique by Sibelius.

The next song then after the reappearing of the boys on stage was
"Salva me". This song holds special meaning to myself, as the Adam
Harris-Liam O'Kane version was it which "fixed me" on to Libera. The
high note solo was done absolutely brilliantly tonight, but I'm unsure
by who. From the pictures, it could have Stefan Leadbeater or James
Threadgill. At the moment there are three very similar looking boys in
the choir, and I have trouble telling them apart. Anyway, that solo
was really brilliant, the worded solo was sung by a group there, I
think it might have been Josh, Ed and Sam. Overall, great song!

Without stop, they switched to Sanctus, another highlight here which
sounded great, though the end solo was performed by Fiona on the
violin, with just the very end being sang by the same boy who sang the
high solo in Salva me.

After that, Mini Ben told us a bit of their touring around the world,
and announced the next two songs before the intermission.

The first was Ave Maria (supposedly in a special version - I thought
it was what I knew ;) ), which was really nice.

And then "Libera", with Liam as soloist. And if I can tell you one
thing: Liam's voice is absolutely breathtaking at the moment, very
rich, clear and powerful, and he breezed through "Libera" with a real
confidence. Liam just looked like he was totally out of it tonight, at
least not as focused as I have seen him on the videos. Who knows what
happend?

Then there was interemission, where I talked to two other "Liberistas"
for a bit (*waves to Kai*), but everyone was very keen that the
concert continued ;)

The orchestra started again with something from Tchaikowsky, and then
the boys re-appeared on stage with the back towards us, starting to
sing "Sakura", which I didn't know before. It is supposed to be a
traditional japanese melody (that is what a programme said), but I
wouldn't miss it on the next CD ;)

Then another song I looked really forward to, "Orinoco Flow". Great,
powerful singing, the harmonies are just so special in that song, and
it gave me another round of goosebumps.

Ben did some solo-performing on the stage then, when he explained
their robes to the audience, and strutted around with the hood over
his head, playing that he wasn't seeing anything. He started a
sentence then, but to me, it sounded like he forgot what he had to say
in the middle of it, and just went back into the rows of the choir -
quite colored up, I think, by blushing ;)

Next was "You were there", with Josh singing the main part, and it was
really good, though the music video version from Tom was a tad better,
imo.

"Sacris Solemnis" is a song I always though was nice, but nothing
special. Tonight, though, I have been show differently. The lighting
for that was perfect, with stars dancing along the curtains. It was
hard to see, but I think that Ed did a solo there, which went kind of
unnoticed, I think. But his voice soared above all else, and I can
tell you, this boy has power, and a pure, crisp quality in his voice.
Just - WOW. Great stuff!

They left the stage then for a couple of minutes and the orchestra
played "Dance of the blessed spirits" by Gluck then, before they
reappeared for a rendition of "Love and Mercy", with Josh singing the
main part. And a great job he did, I haven't seen it much better.
Really awesome.

Then Freddie came up to Josh, which was quite a sight. Josh has shot
up in the last couple of months, and has grows 10cm or so, now being
as tall as Tom or Jonathan. So there was tall Josh, with that little
Freddie next to him, who was at least two heads shorter than Josh.
Anyway, Freddie told us that they were playing the last song of the
night then, and that they would be going home then. Or at least going
to the hotel. He wished us a good night then, which was really cute,
and he looked a bit embarrassed afterwards :)

The last song then was "I am the day", in the same way they did it on
the DVD - Josh singing the main part with Sam whispering alongside.
Definitely on par with the DVD version, and very enjoyable.

After they finished the last note, the crowd instantly broke out into
standing ovations, and you could literally see some of the boys glow
for all the appreciation they got! After a couple of rounds of bows,
the disappeared from the stage, only to reappear a couple of seconds
later, for bringing us the second half of Libera again as an encore -
which was nice, so I could revel in the richness of Liam's voice
again.

And then, after some more applause and bows, they left the stage for
good - and that was it.

Unfortunately, no photos were to be taken, no autographs were given, I
was kind of hoping that they would do something like that. Well, it is
a reason to go to another concert - not that I would need one.

I won't give the full list of appearance right now, I'm too tired to
type it down from the program, but to answer some probably answered
questions in advance: Yes, Tom was there with singing lower parts
together with Jonathan. From the usual cast I've know Zack Lockett and
Joe Snelling were missing. Two boys (Freddie and one other) had their
first full-concert appearance, and mastered it really well.

They did participate in solemn mass. There's a guy called Fan_de_LoK (who's also registered on this site) who's posting on the french libera dream website on a regular basis. Can't fault his commitment to feed back the news too fans who can't be there.

He speaks native French so we have to rely on the google translator;
The program of the mass was found on an A4 sheet, double-sided.

I will book here in summary, for details see the pictures

- Introduction: Alleluia - Franck
- Kyrie - Kitson
- Gloria - Britten (ie not the one arranged by Libera)
- Psalm 77
- Ave Maria - Stopford (not that of libera)
- Sanctus and Benedictus (this time it was the Sanctus de Libera)
- Agnus Dei - Kitson (not that of libera)
- Communion, on "Tantum Ergo" by Faure
- Hymn sung by the entire room "Sweet Sacrament Divine"
- And finally on the organ: "Spirit"
Mentions that an alarm went of somewhere in the Cathedral during 'Sanctus' and the priest had to go and turn it off. Tom didn't participate in the mass, but was in attendence with Callum during rehearsals. I'm guessing he will be performing at the evening concert.

I tried the webcam again this morning, but no such luck. They didn't respond to any emails either. It's a problem with their server I think.

tcenrt lol i am asyousay10 on that forum. So i think its confirmed Matthew has taken over from Liam on that song.
Hahaha.....looks like it's the regulars recycling the post in all the fan sites. So we are all still confused

Ann
There is no confusion and it's not confirmed.... Matthew Alvares DID NOT do the ahh's on Stay with me.
Somebody else on yahoo has also said Matthew did the ahh's on Stay with me . So it seems more people at the concert are saying Matthew did them.

I was in Dublin, very near of the stage, and I can assure anyone that Stephan was not doing the high parts on Stay with me. When the first high "aha" was heard, I was just looking at Stephan, in the middle of the others, and it wasn't singing this. I was very suprised, because even the sound of the voice was different than Stephan voice, so I looked better and I see an unknown hooded face on the left corner, behing the others, it was the new boy Matthew.

Merci beaucoup pour votre effort. J'aime votre rapport.
I hope I am not making a fool of myself. My french is quite limited. But your report was great (and quick.....you wrote it right after the concert) Can't wait to read about the Belfast concert, eventhough I will need the online translation service again.

Thank you again,

Thank you very much :), but even if you can understand the main things I could write in english, I still have the problem of leak of time to do any report in english.
Days here are very shorts, between all the Libera events, the visits in the town, the meeting with other Libera Fans, and so and so...
so sorry, but I can't do long english writing....

I've done some digging around and it was definitely Matthew Rangel-Alvarez doing to high notes on "Stay With Me". Stefan did the solo on "Salva Me" and he also did the end solo on "Sanctus". I also read that the program was recorded for radio, not TV. I've been thinking about how wonderful the next album will be, with all these new soloists!!
