Christmas concert 2018 in Brighton - December 15th

Post by fan_de_LoK »

We were hoping for it, as Westminster concert was early in the year: it now strongly looks that a Christmas Concert 2018 in UK is preparing :)

In an article about the new CD 'Beyond' the site Cross Rhythms writes:

"It will be launched at a concert at London's Westminster Cathedral on 17th October. Libera will then undertake dates in Japan, followed by Christmas concerts in the UK and Russia"

http://www.crossrhythms.co.uk/articles/ ... /63691/p1/

Based on the wording of the article, we can guess the text mostly comes from a press release made by libera.
The information looks to be very strong and reliable :)

Edit on 14/10/2018:

The Christmas concert 2018 is now official, see here on the official site.
It will be performed in Brighton, on Saturday December 15th, at the St. Bartholomew church, at 7:00PM.

Tickets will go on sale this Friday October 19th at 14:00 UK time.

The church has a special look, it is very high.
it is said to be the "tallest church in England".

Thank you, Patrick, for being our source of information once more, finding simply everything! :)

While I honestly didn't (or don't) doubt there would be a Christmas concert in the UK, because I can't imagine they would perform such an important concert like the Moscow one, certainly containing Christmas songs, and not having any dress rehearsal concert before with the newer boys.

I told my colleagues at work that I must get some days off somewhere in December, normally an impossible month to take holidays, and if the announcement came quite spontaneous, I'd have to follow it spontaneously as well. They nodded in silence, they understood.

Sad but true
The very little we know from the press text is the window for that possible concert : between the Japan tour and the concert in Russia, meaning somewhere from October 29th to December 26th.

However this can be a bit refined by looking to the past UK Christmas concerts :
2010 : Friday November 19th
2011 : Friday November 25th
2012 : Friday November 16th
2013 : Thursday November 28th
2014 : Saturday December 20th
2015 : Friday December 11th
2016 : Friday December 02nd
2017 : Saturday December 01st

2010-2013 : the concert was located at mid or late November,
2014-2017 : the concert was located at early or mid December.

It can as well fall on a Friday or a Saturday.

Taking all this in account, it lets plausible 3 or 4 week-ends including the Fridays.

If there's still no confirmation about that concert it is probably because some things still need to be secured, so we just have to wait, and see

It is a wide range of dates that correspond to any number of Friday's or Saturday's which are the most likely given your data. I think that they will want a lengthy break from concerts during November after Japan so early to mid December seems the most plausible.

Thanks for the information filiarheni and FDL! Two concerts for the European fans in (relatively) short succession? So happy for my Libera fan friends in Europe. :D

Excellent news - the Christmas concert is now officially announced. :D

News - Brighton, not London this time. :|

Bad news - no M&G again? :( Will I ever have a chance to be at a M&G???

I think it is doubtful that a M&G would take place at that concert. But just come to the US next time they are here  or to Japan or something. Being that it is a moving line and that the boys, being typical kids, are more interested in chatting among themselves than to fans, there really isn't much to the M&G. It is certainly nice to express appreciation for their hard work and I think it is equally important for them to know that their talents and efforts are appreciated and that their singing can really touch people - an important lesson at such a young age.

I guess what I'm saying is that it's less of a big deal than you think. But I am sure that all the same you will have a M&G one day. :D

A M&G is highly doubtful.
There is 1h30 of road after the concert to be back to London. Spending an additional 45-60 mn for a M&G would make then very late at home.
In addition the church does not look to have a place to welcome a M&G.
