A new CD Coming next year?

Post by TimS_TheToolman »

Libera has tweeted they are in the studio recording some new songs. A "hint" of a new CD for 2017? :D

You beat me to it. I like the fact that it is new songs (plural). I hope they managed to make some other recordings that made use of the older boys voices before the changes this summer - they surprised us last time with Tom C so there is hope.

Great news! I think I can read "The Three Ravens" on Gregor's score...

It's the same place where they have already recorded the Christmas Album, more than 5 years ago, see here.

With the curtains, the armchair, the carpet, the wall frames, it looks like a living room, isn't it ?

... and I think you must work for the FBI. Just looked like a plain sheet to me.
Here's the song
Looks like Sam Coates might be doing the arrangement. With Sam's magical touch and Gregor's voice, I can't wait to hear the result.

Should we expect a selection of traditional English songs arranged for Libera? That would be nice.

I was thinking about this today. Does have to be exclusively English songs? They might do traditional/folk songs from around the world. Wayfaring Stranger was well received so how about some more American songs like this one we have discussed before:

Or this one from Japan (and the one that follows it from Eire):

They could pick songs from all the major markets and it might give the opportunity for that song people liked from the Taiwan tour a few years ago + Arirang from the Korea tour that I heard in Romsey earlier this year

Shouldn't this topic and the similar one in "Chat" be merged?

It looks like they will be releasing it in spring before they go to Japan. :D

I would love to have an album full to overflowing with music written by Robert Prizeman (mainly) and former Libera members. I enjoy these own compositions most, they simply are the best, and, anyway, I always like to hear Libera sing something new, not sung by anybody else so far, just Libera's own.

So maybe a "world selection" of songs? That would be nice. Wayfaring Stranger or This Land is Your Land or Shenandoah from North America, El Condor Pasa from South America, Ode to Joy for Europe (better sing it quickly!) and others from Asia and Africa.

The problem for "The Moon is My Heart" is that either it wasn't for sale or the sale price was too steep.

It cannot be this song because measure and rhythm do not coincide with what can be seen in the sheet or someone would have had to change it completely for a Libera version. I looked for another version of the song on youtube and found one with the right measure and rhythm. The melody does not fit at all, but why not have a soloist there who sings it?

The composer mentioned in the youtube example is John Harle, and when I try really hard, I have got enough fantasy to read this name on the - here - right side of the Libera sheet.

In case ( :!: ) that this is true, the song belongs to the television series "A History Of England", music written by John Harle.

I would like to add the following:

When I try to read the lyrics on this foto, I do think that they say:

"Down there comes a fallow doe,
As great with young as she might goe
Down, derrie, derrie, derrie, down, down"

These are words from "The Three Ravens". And this is why I believe that each of the fotos shows that Three Ravens song and this also led me to finding the John Harle composition with the correct rhythm, part of which can be seen very clearly on the above picture.

This is the original song (I didn't know it before, but I like it and I am looking forward to it being sung by Libera):

"But in the dark and cold of things there always, always something sings"

Wow !
That's fantastic Filiarheni, you solved the mystery of the score photo ! :D

The lyrics on the photo are not really readable, but when compared with the lyrics you identified, it become clear,
The shape of the letters, the length of the words, the rhythm, all seems to match at 100% with your lyrics,
Thank you very much !! :D :D :D

The song on the video you found is very interesting too, the tune is haunting and beautiful !
I'm really looking forward to hear the rendition that Robert and the boys were able to created from it :)

Thank you again Filiarheni :)

Boosted by your lyrics identification I reworked the image to straighten it and correct the perspectives.
I doubt that it improves the reading but at least it's horizontal

The five visible lines can be quite certainly :
1) .... downe, downe, downe
2) Downe there comes a fal-low Doe, As great with yong as she might goe,
3) downe, der-rie, der-rie, downe, downe
4) ....
5) .... downe, der-rie, der-rie, downe, downe

Image

(here the full page: Image)

The lines 3, 4 and 5 corresponds to the part 3'03'' - 3'20'' on the video you pointed.

Here the full lyrics as sung on that video:

Glad that you are glad! I did not even think of a possibility to turn an "inclined" picture into a horizontal form, so thank you for doing the job, fan_de_LoK. :)

Yes, the song is beautiful and let's see what Libera will make out of it. I am sure they will do very well, the song suits Libera.
