Westminster Abbey will be live-streaming two services this year. The video players will appear on the following pages when it's time, and the services will remain available to watch until January: Midnight Mass from 11pm on the 24th: https://www.westminster-abbey.org/abbey-events/advent-and-christma...

Re: Young Chorister of the Year - 2021

Regarding the boys having difficult repertoire this time - this is something the producers would have been well aware of when choosing the semi-finalists, they also have the power to ask them to sing something different. I dislike how this has been made into more like an X-factor style show since mo...

They are listed, but I don't want to violate the rules by posting any names on this thread that I shouldn't.

I'm sure most fans are quite good at recognising soloists anyway!

Antonio de la Torre, Aussie boy soprano.

Antonio has an album on the way, he's a very natural singer and can dive straight into the typical treble solo fare despite not having benefited from the usual chorister background. He has a varied repertoire and has posted quite a few videos singing outside his comfort zone e.g. trying new styles, ...

Indeed that could be the case, although perhaps it is an unusual fragment on which to compose a new piece in isolation, occurring as it does half way through a verse.

Re: New Album "If" (Oct 2021 release)

Cum dederit is a phrase from the middle section of psalm 127, and this psalm has numerous settings to music in Latin typically titled Nisi Dominus after the first two words. With the settings by Vivaldi and Handel the Cum dederit section is a separate movement, but it occurs in all the Latin settin...

Re: Recommend me a Libera album

Thanks for the suggestions. I am guessing the albums don't each have a radically different feel to them like some groups, but are mostly consistent, so perhaps it doesn't matter so much which I choose. Are the earlier Angel Voices albums in the same league? I think then I will go for Libera and Lumi...

Recommend me a Libera album

I looking for a recommendation for my next Libera album to buy. Currently I only have New Dawn, the latest Christmas album and the Libera at Christmas EP. With most music I buy, I don't listen to it very often - perhaps to avoid it becoming routine and so it remains special and always carries that e...

Help Archie (14yo treble) record an album

Archie, a former chorister at Magdalen College Oxford, is fundraising to record an album. It's not the usual treble CD repertoire but early classical and baroque works he's chosen himself. The project only has a few days left so anything you could do to share this on e.g. Facebook etc would probably...

Libera's Sing Forever covered by all the choirs.

To help raise money for the Cathedral Choirs' Emergency Fund, here are 269 choristers doing a cover version of Sing Forever, released by Libera in 1992 I believe. Cathedral and church choirs provide so many opportunities for young people and are of crucial importance to choral music generally, pleas...

No, I suppose I meant concerts that might have been in the pipeline but not announced yet.

Re: Potential Impact of COVID-19 on Libera

I would be very surprised if all concerts and tours aren't suspended until the autumn at the very earliest. For the Korea tour it's not possible to reorganise at short notice should things unexpectedly improve in both countries - it will be cancelled. Ely won't go ahead in June, that will likely be ...

Re: Christmas Concert 2019, Tuesday, 3rd December, London

The stage looks to be set up as usual, with two rows A and B in front of the pillars. I have sat in the front row before for choral and orchestral performances and found it an excellent place to be - no neck craning necessary! This could have been my first ever Libera concert but I managed to pick t...

Re: The Choir of St John’s College, Cambridge

I caught the Amsterdam livestream when it was live, but great to hear about the Stevenskerk concert as it seems they had quite a different program. They are probably my favourite choir alongside that of New College Oxford, who perhaps put more emphasis on the abilities of each and every singer as a ...
