I thought Tobias' performance was definitely original and amazingly done (though I preferred his semifinal performance over his final). However, I am glad for Spellbound's win. Even though they used the same track as their audition, there was definitely a different storyline through it this time. Se...

It helps with the ratings as well. Like it or not, people like to see other people fail. It's Schadenfreude! <starts singing Avenue Q song> Did anyone see this week's auditions?

You need to sign in and have the "age verification" to be able to see the elephant, so that might have limited it. Besides, it's not one to watch again and again. Once is MORE than enough. :) I agree with Simon a bit with Connected. Although "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" was be...

Last year during my London visit, my friend and I went to the Evensong service. The choir was very good, as they sang many hymns and other service music. My only complaint is in the hymnals, there is no music, only lyrics. It took us about 3-4 verses to finally get the melody for each unknown song. ...

I enjoyed "Touch the Sky." As LiberAeterna mentioned, it is a pleasant diversion from the mood of the 2nd half of the album. It's harmonies are a departure from traditional Libera, partially because Ben Crawley wrote the music and lyrics. The melody was not overly complicated (as that woul...

I did this before, so let me get 3 new ones out: 1) I am the Aquatics director at a camp during the summer, despite probably being the weakest swimmer of all the lifeguards. 2) I am on a Native American dance team (though I am not Native American). 3) I am learning to play the guitar and will be arr...

That may be a reason why in so many hymns, the tenor parts barely go over the E above middle C and the Alto parts rarely hit anything higher than the A or B above that. It is difficult to find older male voices who can successfully hit A's and above.

Pocket Knife would be allowed (for some reason in the UK we call them pen knives - don't know why). Liking the toilet paper though :D Love O Fortuna (written for trebles that part as well IIRC) but Puff the Magic Dragon :?: I've heard them called pen knives, pocket knives, swiss army knives, etc. I...

Let's see if I can get this done. In no particular order, other than how I write them down: 1) Caledonia (Celtic Thunder) 2) Heartland (Celtic Thunder) 3) Puff the Magic Dragon (Peter, Paul, and Mary) 4) O Fortuna (Orff, from Carmina Burana) 5) Pathetique Sonata (Beethoven Piano Sonata No. 5, Op. 10...

If you have noticed in the compilation albums in the past few years (Angel Voices and The Best of...), Lacrymosa has been notoriously absent, although it has been used in many concerts since Ben C. originally recorded it. This is probably because it was originally released under a non EMI classics a...

Believe it or not, Come Sail Away is on our promotional DVD! It was added for two reasons: 1) the parents of cub scouts probably grew up in the 80's, and therefore would remember the song, and 2) it was one of the songs we put on in the bar every night we went there.

The new Celtic Thunder stuff is pretty cool. It's alot different from their first stuff. They focus more on showbiz types of songs, though not very stereotypical songs (a good eclectic mix). I've got the CD in my car. :)

Did you ever get back to school after the Snowpocalypse and Winter Fury (or whatever they called the 2nd storm)? I have a friend down in Loyola that as of yesterday hasn't been in class since last wednesday (over a week ago)!

Thanks for all the input so far! I'll be looking into many of those songs. I wouldn't be worrying too much about some content of the songs, especially since we used Don't Stop Believein' and Come Sail Away for the camp promo video. Yorkie, I have no problem with drinking songs (I grew up listening t...
